Our city

english for you: What’s Kaliningrad like for you? What do you like about it? What is the worst thing about it? Do you like living there, why, why not?

Îòâåòîâ - 28

Íàñòàñüÿ 8Ý: Kaliningrad is my home. I was born here and love it very much. For me Kaliningrad is a wonderful city with many parks, beautiful architecture, diverse museums, small fountains and so on. I like walking in our Central Park once a week. When my friends and I go for a walk, we always visit our square. We take some pictures near the church, sit near the fountain and talk about everything) And in my opinion, the worst thing is roads. If you want to visit someone, who lives in an opposite side from you, you should make a lot of effort to do it. But in spite of this, I love Kaliningrad.

camomile: Íàñòàñüÿ 8Ý ïèøåò: I was born here and love it very much. As for me I wasn’t born in Kaliningrad, but I like this city. To tell the truth it took me some years to get used to it. Íàñòàñüÿ 8Ý ïèøåò: And in my opinion, the worst thing is roads. I agree with you, roads are one of the worst things in our city. Loads of cars, traffic jams drive me mad.

camomile: What is Kaliningrad like? It is a modern city developing and changing constantly. It is considered as a beautiful city by many people. But humans who come to visit it sometimes feel depressed because of frequent dull days and cloudy weather. I think the worst thing is long periods of rainy and nasty days without the sun. It makes our like more stressful. But we have a good advantage – the sea which is not far from the city. We can go there once or twice a month to recharge our batteries. As for architecture I like old buildings and gates. To be honest most of them have gone to the dogs. The real problem of our city is lots of rubbish around. We have a lot of opportunities to spend a great time because many things are going on all the time in divers clubs, cinemas, parks, museums. But probably I don’t really take as much advantage as I should do. Simply, I like going around with my friends in the evenings.

Íàñòàñüÿ 8Ý: camomile ïèøåò: because of frequent dull days and cloudy weather. oh! of course! i agree with you! it is one of the worst thing in Kaliningrad!

irina: Kaliningrad What is Kaliningrad like? Kaliningrad is a big city with old architecture, a lot of parks and diverse museums. I think the worst thing is our climate. The weather in December is rather warm and in January the weather is intensely cold. To be honest I hate our weather in winter! Also, there is a lot of rubbish around. Some streets are very grimy. But we have good advantages, such as a good nature. We can go to a coast once a month for a couple of days to recharge our batteries. I don't like living there; it's simply not my city. For me it's too dirty and the Baltic sea is too cold. Also, sometimes I have the impression that I live in the country.

irina: camomile ïèøåò: I like old buildings and gates I like old buildings too. But I think, many people don't appreciate our beautiful architecture and dont't know the history of our city.

Nasty: What’s Kaliningrad like for me? At first it's a city where I was born. But it doesn't mean I like it very much. May be because of a lot travels all over the Europe i don't like its architecture, because it's not very nice: box-houses all over the city, rubbish on streets. But due to travelling in Russia i understood I live in well-groomed city, in comparison with other Russian cities. So what i like... i like a lot of trees, some small square with a lot of flowers , some parks, and of course the weather! The weather in Kaliningrad is wonderful! Not hot, not cold, not very rainy (like in London) i like this weather very much, especially rainy and windy days. And also there is good air in the city, not like in Moscow or in Saint-Petersburg. The worst thing. I absolutely agree with Íàñòàñüÿ Íàñòàñüÿ 8Ý ïèøåò: the worst thing is roads. If you want to visit someone, who lives in an opposite side from you, you should make a lot of effort to do it. And also the worst thing is lots of rubbish and pollution of environment. I like living there but not very much, of course it's better than living in a big city. But I must value that I have.

Nasty: I disagree with Irina irina ïèøåò: I think the worst thing is our climate. The climat is good! You just don't know like in other cities. There is rather warm summer, not cold winter, classic windy and rainy autumn, and frosty spring. Honesty, I have some friends who escaped from the South of Russia because it's too hot summer and now she lives with her family there and they enjoy the weather. Our climate is one of the best in Russia.

Sandra: I wasn't born in Kaliningrad, but I spent all my conscious life there. I hold this city as my native, because my friends, my relatives live there , there Iwent to the first form and so on. How many things are going on all the time! There are exhibitions, performances in theatres, a lot of new films in cinemas, so, there are many places to go in Kaliningrad. And our geographical location is very comfortable: we live near the Baltic sea, Germany and other European countries, so, we have all facilities for the enjoyable rest. Of course, there are bad things, such as much rain, half of sellers and state officials aren't polite… I think, the worst thing is a lot of rubbish around. Some people with bad bad education throw rubbish everywhere: at the seaside, in forests, on streets, in parks ets. But we have the reverse of the coin: somebody wants to throw rubbish in a orderly bin, but there are few bins, which are very small and ,of course, fulled. I love Kaliningrad despite all the odds!

Sandra: camomile ïèøåò: As for architecture I like old buildings and gates. To be honest most of them have gone to the dogs. Yes, I agree with you. Our wonderful old architecture molder, because nobody look after it.

Olga: I wasn`t born in Kaliningrad, but I live there since 1998. I grew up in this town, so I like it very much I think Kaliningrad is a beautiful and convenient city. It has a lot of interesting places where we could go)) Such as parks, squares, cinemas,a zoo, stadiums, nightclubs and others There is one more advantage: Kaliningrad is not very big, so you can go on foot to your friends, to your work, to school and other places. And also there is the Baltic sea not far from the town! You can have a rest on the sea, walk in the forest and recharge your batteries The worst thing is that some streets in Kaliningrad are grimy and nobody wants to clear them! One more disadvantage: Kaliningrad is not near the other Russian cities, so you can not go to other Russian cities by train without transit visa! But I love Kaliningrad very much against all the odds!

Olga: Sandra ïèøåò: not half of sellers and state officials are polite… I agree with you! I was in different foreign countries, and state officials and sellers are really more polite in Europe, than in Russia and Kaliningrad!

stranger: Kaliningrad is a big modern city with many diverse attractions. There are many old architecture, parks, museums. I like that we live near the Baltic sea. Walking at the seaside is one of the best way of the rest for me. Also Kaliningrad is a city with interesting history. I love the weather in our city. Summer is warm enough and winter isn't too cold. I think the worst think in our city is a lot of rubbish around! Some places is very grimy... I wasn't born in Kaliningrad, but I love this city!

stranger: Olga ïèøåò: One more disadvantage: Kaliningrad is not near the other Russian cities, so you can not go to other Russian cities by train without international passport and transit visa! I agree with you. moreover, people from other cities in Russia must have international passport too! In some cities if you want to do international passport you must wait a big turn...

zaher: Kaliningrad is the town of one of my best friends on the Internet Sandra, i didn't visit it but i hope one day i will :)

Olga: Hi dear students from Japan! I read all your messages and it was very interesting to know your opinion about Kaliningrad Riyo writes: I learned that the city became one of the worst cities after the war though it was peaceful in prewar days. Everything was spoilt in war. 3221 Riyo I disagree with you. Out city of course suffered from the war and a lot of things were damaged, but there was a reconstruction after the war. Practically all cathedrals was renewed and now Kaliningrad is very beautiful city with a lot of parks, tourist attractions and interesting places.

oMeGa: I wasn't born in Kaliningrad, but I grew fond of it. I like its history, culture, architecture, nature and of course inhabitants. Our city has a rich history, we get beautiful architecture from German people. Our nature is amazing. Not far from the city we have the wonderful Curonian Spit. There is a Dancing forest. It looks fantastic!!! I also like that there are a lot of trees and bushes in the city. We have a lot of places of interests such as museums, cinemas, shopping centres and of course parks. Park "Youth" is my favourite park, because there are 2 lakes near it. There are also some attractions and a cafe. We can sit on a bench and enjoy the nature. There is a skate-park on the embankment where people can watch young people riding skateboards and roller skates. I love everything in Kaliningrad with the exception of its climate. In winter the weather is not very cold. But I heard that this winter will be frosty. Of course I like Kaliningrad despite all the odds.

Õàîòè÷íàÿ Äàðüÿ: Hello! Maybe it'll sound strange, but I don't like Kaliningrad... It's a really boring city... Ok, maybe some places are beutiful and unusual, but i know everythig about them! I don't want to live in this city any more!!! But I don't have a way out... And sometimes I think, that I will go to the school though Vilnius, like talk to us our teacher of mathematics. Although, perhaps when I will move my home to a new city, I think I will miss. But now I dream to live in America... Or in Bali...

But now almost nothing reminds of that awful time, except for the monuments and places where you can mourn the dead. our city is realy beautiful! and i found that tree of the city is camphor. is it true?
